[NIFTY] OnCore Portable USB Backup Battery / Charger for $8.00 with free shipping

Hi everyone,

Just bumped across this on the dealmac web site:

http://dealmac.com/On-Core-Portable-USB-...04395.html

Looks nifty! Definitely handy for those of you who travel and need to juice up your phone when an outlet isn’t handy and those of you who don’t have generators and/or UPSs and need to charge a USB device during a power outage.

I can easily see taking one of these with me while traveling. The last time I was at an airport, my phone started to run out of juice and every outlet was taken. Very annoying. This gadget would've saved me some serious agita. Charge this sucker before going on a trip and use it to juice up the phone when all the other outlets are taken. Recharge the battery doohickey at the destination. Seems like it's worth a try for $8.00

That is an interesting concept. I carry a wall wart AND a battery. Combine the two.. WIN !

Cbelt,

Exactly what I was thinking. Just need to supply your own cable for an iphone. Smile

I refuse to get sucked into the cheapo crap that meritline sells. Zero quality control. If it's a brand that doesn't have a website, I stay away.

the people that make this are NOT at OnCore.com

Hal,

Oncore.com appear to be software developers. I wouldn't expect them to make this device. That said, I've bought several low-cost items form Meritline. Some are garbage, others useful. This device seems to get overall very good reviews. Seemed like it was worth a try for $8.00.

Carry a power strip.

You bet. I wouldn't hesitate to ask a fellow traveler to share an outlet using a power striping supplied.
