Apple Fans Are Already Making Parodies Of Samsung's Anti-iPhone 5 Ad (i would have posted some but they were REALLY huge when i tried.)

Apple to file lawsuit against Samsung for releasing a phone with features not currently available on iPhone.
Apple lead attorney's only comment, "The BALLS of those guys!"

They are both good phones, I'm sure.
I think Micro USB is a better choice for a plug, tho.

They forgot to mention that the Samsung is a hulking monster. A friend of mine has one of those...it is ridiculously large and ungainly.

4.3 inch is still ok for me, but I have big hands.
4 inch really is a practical upper limit if you are only making one device. When Apple decides to make different models for different hands, then S models can mean 'small'!

I'm sure the lightning connector is technically better. But microusb DOES work, I have it on my battery case and it's great. Microusb cables are dirt cheap, everywhere, and really are fast enough for the times you need to occasionally sync your iPhone or iPod. In fact, one of my favorite bonuses of the battery case is eliminating the proprietary 30 pin connector. Maybe the lightning connector will become open as a standard like display port or thunderbolt. I doubt it, however. Apple makes too much money off these kinds of things due to all the iPhone sales..

And what functionality is the MicroUSB form factor missing when you factor in MHL, USB On-The-Go and similar technology? Let's not forget the large benefit with micro USB is the cost of the cable and the likelihood other devices will also charge/sync via the same connection. I do like the reversible insertion promise of Lightning, but I am not interested in yet another Apple only cable. Did you coin a new marketing term, "détente retention" has four hits on the search engine I just used and one of the those hits is from you.

The previous iPhone 3.5" screens were close to the smallest practical size possible. I have two 3.2" touch screen phones and while they function, typing is a bit of a chore for me compared to a QWERTY keyboard phone or my 3.5" Nokia N8 (please note, Symbian^S3, Anna, and Belle don't exactly have sterling software keyboards either and the small screen bump still makes a big difference). I'm actually more concerned the skinny and tall iPhone 5 will have a more awkward feel than the bigger overall S III. I'd have to get one in my hand first. It does remind me of the same design complaint iPad fans were fond of spouting when it came to 16x9 tablets. |
