Just tapped a bunch of dust, grit, and I-don't-know-what from my keyboard
#1
This morning I noticed a couple of crumbs in between the keys, so turned the keyboard over and tapped out various bits of gunk. I was surprised at how much "stuff" fell out onto the desk. (Odd, because I don't eat while at the computer. There is one other person in the household who uses the same iMac, and I don't want to cast any suspicions.)

While nothing crawled away on its own, you may still want to gently tap the accumulated bits of stuff that may have fallen into your keyboard.

Some call sacrilege but I buy a new keyboard once a year. My old one gets donated to my kids' school.

Nope, no pics fell out, just dust and grit and stuff.

Silicone protector on mine - besides gunk, it has saved KB from coffee spills a few times.

I'll use a vacuum on mine every now and again. Mostly dust (expensive electronic filter notwithstanding) and cat hair. He likes to sit on my lap in the evening and distribute his daily growth to the environment.

Right now it's due for a good washing. I really don't think my fingers are that dirty but the keys tell me otherwise!

Get some canned air (without bitterant, which stops people from using it for intoxication, but makes things slimy), and be prepared to be amazed at how much comes out!

I clean my work keyboard out about every 3 months. It looks like one of my doggies was shedding into it. But no dogs are allowed in the office. It's ME !

Dust, skin cells, hair... it's a regular CSI bonanza !

Ed: Then I hit it with the hand sanitizer and a rag to clean off the skin oils and other grubby bits.
