I don't get it... even the senate can't get an assault weapons ban continuation passed. Just what is this gun bill going to include?

insane!

Guns for all. This country has lost its collective mind, not to mention its soul.

More proof that politicians are spineless, selfish whores.

"The Senate Judiciary Committee passed three other measures, in addition to the assault weapons ban, over the past two weeks that are expected to be considered in some form on the Senate floor.

These measures include bills to strengthen federal penalties for trafficking and straw purchases, improve school safety and require background checks for nearly every firearm purchase."

Glad that made it in, but what does "nearly" mean - sounds like there are still some exceptions....

No argument from me on this! It really is unbelievable.

The Dems don't feel they are getting enough love and devotion (read votes) to keep their seats in the next election.

Anyhoo, these assault weapons bans are a waste of time. They are just lists or what is and what isn't. A few after-market mods, and what "is" suddenly becomes what "isn't," and vice versa. I applaud the effort, but the insanity is too widespread for such subtlety.

So, see you all in a month or so when some lunatic goes and offs a dozen or more people with one of these weapons again? What... is that too hopeful? It won't really be that long until it happens again?

Blood on the hands of each and every person in our government that prevents the steps needed to end this craziness. I'd go so far as to suggest it doesn't stop with them and it extends to every single person that thinks they need these guns and that any step toward a sensible remedy infringes on their Constitutional rights. Sick fsckers.

I'm pleased that these ridiculous efforts are thwarted.
