Laws and rules are for other people.

Probably poor ones.

Bear in mind that if the NRA had its way, there would be no screening at all.

Between the AR-15 situation and his dog killing a baby seal, this sets up nicely for a NRA vs PETA cage match!

Knowing how popular marijuana is or drinking and driving is in this country, I wonder how many people outright lie on this form (11-e).

The shop owner is a liar, too. It was definitely clear that he was going to make personal use of the firearm. Now maybe he wasn't going to use it to go needlessly kill shit like the other idiots, but he was absolutely going to personally use it to make a point.

No doubt if the dealer didn't have all the buyers he could ever want, he would have sold him the assault weapon.

You are a businessman. Your business is selling guns. A man comes into your place of business and goes through the process to buy a gun. You find out before the process is complete that the man bought the gun so that he could give it up to the government in a symbolic act in favor of more gun regulation. More gun regulation would reduce business. Having people learn that the man bought the gun from you might hurt business. There's a lot of media coverage. If you think about it as a businessman, that could be free media to get across a favorable message to customers and potential customers that will increase your business. What message does that?

It makes perfect business sense to me.

Of course it does... me, too. Although, there are a number of things I could do that would benefit me, but I like to think I'm not completely morally bankrupt.

I can't get over how much some people HATE do-gooders like Kelley. The guy wants to see fewer innocent people dying in gun battles. I just can't understand how it enrages people like Mac-a-matic. It's really sad.

At least cbelt will respect the guy (A LOT, I assume from what I know about cbelt) while disagreeing.

I think Mark Kelly and Gabby Giffords probably confuse gun nuts because they are not black-and-white, Kelly is a military man and astronaut, his wife a gun owner and shooting enthusiast and former Congresswoman who ran on gun owner rights.

Then she got shot in the head and a lot of people around her died, so they adjusted their perspective a bit. But neither thinks that nobody should own guns privately. They just want common sense laws.
