This study is an overreaction to the murder of innocents in Connecticut. As a nation, we need to stop overreacting and think.
The question: How do you keep children safe ?
Both politically presented alternatives are equally infeasible.
Alternative #1 - Fully disarm the nation. Mass murder is impossible without the tools.
Alternative #2 - Convert our schools into armed fortresses. Mass murder is impossible if the murderer cannot either enter the school or is killed during entry.
Alternative #3 is rarely discussed. Identify potential mass murderers through mental health training, outreach, and affiliated programs. Use that information to control dangerous people's access to weapons. Use that information to control dangerous people's access to schools.
And recognize that no defense is impregnable, the insane will still find ways to harm others, even our children in their schools. Do what's possible, not bemoan that the impossible is 'being blocked' by your political opponents as a way to make political points without having any effect on the problem at hand.

Arkansas' future governor, Asa Hutchinson, is involved in this. If there ever was a bigger POS politician, I'd like to know who. I guarantee y'all that there will end up being compulsory NRA-sponsored "training" sessions for the schools, for which the NRA will get the government to pay for. The graft and corruption will be on such a scale to rival Halliburton. There will end up more deaths and injuries than if the guards had never been there.

Maybe you have to accept that you can't.
As a viewer from outside the USA it appears that much of your country has an ingrained love of guns and the need to own them even though there are many who wish it was otherwise. It seems you will have to accept that there are a huge number of guns in public hands and they are not going away. Even if there was more gun control the sheer numbers already out there would make it almost worthless. Looking at the rankings of countries by fire-arm related deaths the USA is way near the top, yes you can proudly say your rate is better than countries like South Africa, Panama and Jamaica but are these the countries you wish to be compared with? The highest placing of a European country is Serbia and the USA has two and a half times the death rate of them. In many areas of comparison I am sure that the USA outranks us in the UK for the better but I am very happy that our rate is less than one fortieth of the USA's. Interestingly because 70% of our rate is made up of suicides and for the USA the equivalent rate is "only" 60% it means our fire-arm related homicide rate is only an eightieth of yours. I guess we find more interesting ways to commit murder!
OK, let rip.

The Founding Fathers would be appalled at the removal of piety, virtue , morality through religion having been removed from our education system.
