"Detroit Dog Rescue took the dog away to be cremated, calling this a sad reality about pet ownership."
More like sad reality of gun ownership. Fscking twat! If the dog was on a leash as they suggest would have prevented this, there's a high likelihood the kid and the dog would have gotten gunned down by gun nutter next door at some point.

We have a similar case here in Cleveland... a guy shot and killed a dog that was 'attacking' his dog in a dog park. Almost shooting the dog's owner in the process. Turns out the shooter was a convicted felon, and his cache of illegal firearms on him and at home just added to his legal woes. He's going away for a while.
Yes, that's right. A crime was committed with an ILLEGAL firearm.

When you're a hammer everything looks like a nail.

Not so sensationalist when you consider that people are killed everyday in this country for lesser failings than letting their dogs out. Utterly ridiculous situation, and at the very least the shooter should have his guns removed from his possession. He has been shown to be a man who is willing to shoot an 8lb dog fer cryin' out loud...because he "felt like he was being attacked". "Felt"! So he wasn't actually being attacked, he just "felt" like he was? By a f&%^*ing chihuahua!? Hardly the poster boy for everyone having the right to own guns.

This man sounds like he should be in mental health care. No one of sound mind would do what he did. It's not normal. He has no business owning firearms. The people who sold them to him should be brought to justice in the same way that a bartender should who sells an obviously drunk man another beer and watches as he gets in his truck and drives home. It's called accountability.
