Well he's kept us there longer than we should be, so in every sense he's culpable.

Roger, the diplomatic mission and book distribution would have been taking place with or without the war.

The OP suggested he had nothing to do with it, he did. So the buck stops - where?

Why don't you try blaming the Taliban?

OK, I apologize.
Dosen't change my mind about how he's allowed bankers to go without a single prosecution and how he's continued the Bush doctrines of unrestrained warfare. He's just become another tool.
My opinion, you may disagree.

Hopefully we'll have diplomats in Afghanistan long after the troops have left. I admire this young woman and what she was trying to do and how she wanted to represent our country.
I was making a dig at the Benghazi nuts, who will no doubt barely take notice of this latest death in the middle east, since there is no looming election.
A case could be made (or not) that this shows the President is right not to withdraw troops too hastily, as this country is obviously still unstable and violent.
Then there's this, to make the heart sink even more...
At least 10 Afghan children were killed Saturday in a joint military operation by Afghan and NATO forces, according to two Afghan officials.

Roger, you are right about the bankers. Ken Lewis and others should have been in jail long ago. I think you are wrong about unrestrained warfare--he is (at least) trying to get us out of there, and he did get us (mostly) out of Iraq. I am not crazy about drones but they sure are effective. I pretty much love 'em when the right people go down, and I have no sympathy for American citizens who hunker down in a foreign country and create, or perform, or both, acts of terror against the United States and its people. I do not think there will ever be military drones over Cleveland or LA, but who knows, I could be wrong about that.

What law did Ken Lewis break? It's easy to say "throw the bankers in jail" but they have to actually be guilty of something that's on the books.
(disclaimer: he's my former boss.)
No doubt purchasing Merrill Lynch and Countrywide were bad ideas, and Lewis lost his job because of it. No doubt people at Merrill Lynch misrepresented that company's position during the acquisition - also, the Feds pushed BofA into taking over ML. BofA was strong even in 2008 and the feds leaned too heavily on it to bail out other ailing companies, much to BofA's misfortunes.
I'm not aware of Ken Lewis breaking any laws - what was he accused of?
