Sick kitty
#1

Hasn't been able to keep food or water down all week. Has covered my carpet in vomit. Lethargic. Cries like she's in pain, but can't find any injury. Is losing sphincter control. Has lost more than 2 pounds (out of a svelte 11).

Thought it might be a bowel obstruction, but X-rays are clear.

Was better after a visit to the vet and some sub-Q fluids and anti-nausea meds yesterday, but then I found her nearly catatonic when I got back from work today. No kidney/liver problems showing in a quickie blood panel. On IV fluids tonight and getting a sonogram in the morning. Maybe a urine culture after she's hydrated. Maybe endoscopy.

Vet suggested acute pancreatitis, IBS or cancer... or some combination.

Prayers are appreciated.

Temperature okay? Pulse good? (when at the vet)

I will literally pray for your cat's recovery. I know it's distressing.

What's her name?

Pixie.

Vitals are back almost to normal tonight with fluids.

So, so sorry to hear that Pixie is sick.
It is hard with a sick pet, because they can't tell you what is wrong.
BooBoo kitteh and I are hoping that Pixie gets better very soon.
She is a very pretty kitteh.

That's the question where when I answer it, people tune out everything else, so I'm going to put it at the end...

She's had nearly perfect health her whole life up until less than 2 weeks ago when she started exhibiting these symptoms which have been gradually worsening. Every time a vet sees her age, the first question they ask is whether there's a mistake on her record. People think she's 9 or 10 at the most and until this week it was reasonable to assume that she would gracefully make it into her 20s. She's 17.

My litter mates are 13, 17 is still young, in my opinion.

No reason she shouldn't make it to 20, or more.
I really hope they figure out what is causing the problem.
