I have a friend that wants to add a second drive to her G5 1.8 DP
I seem to remember that a bracket (not included from Apple) was needed
Is that correct or do they just piggyback like in the G4s

I didn't need any sort of extra bracket to add a second internal drive to my Dual 1.8 G5.
Apple already included specialized extra screws to use to slide in the new drive. Look for the needed screws nearby the second drive bay. They are screwed in to the chassis for safe storage. Remove them from the chassis, screw them into the new drive and slide it in. It's a very easy install. The second drive bay is empty and awaits the new drive. There is even a SATA connector there ready to connect to the new drive.
Mine is a first generation Dual 1.8 G5. YMMV.

tell your friend to open the manual and follow the directions - they are very clear - even for dummies.

Well - I'm the dummy that is going to install it hal.
BTW - You working chas_m's corner tonight ? :-)
I had a vague (and seems incorrect) recollection about folks bitching about
lack of a drive bracket and I just wanted to make sure I have all I need when I go install it.

installation is so easy you'll make yourself feel like a genius after you do it. wait, does that even make sense? whatever, it's easy, just do it.

I've done lots of G4 & G3s and did the initial set up and RAM upgrades on her G5
so I'm not intimidated by it - I just had that bracket thing nagging me in the back of my brain

Seems that you read a nasty tone in my post. Not intended. I've done a million installations and the manuals since the MMD G4s have been very comprehensive with illustrations and everything. I was just trying to get you to put this person on the right path.
