I need a Blu-Ray player with built-in net apps that will output in S-Video (or even Composite video) and include light pipe out for DTS/ Dolby surround.
(Yes, incredible that I don't have an HDTV yet but … well, I don't; this is primarily for playback of 5.1 DTS/Dolby audio plus streaming.)
Any particular model/ make suggestions?
Thanks!

Why blu ray player, isn't there a media player for those such as Roku or other similar devices?

Not for playing back 5.1 audio from Blu-Ray discs.

I see, you said "streaming" and I thought you play from the net.

That's just a perk. I'd rather buy one appliance than two.

Wait, you buy Blu-ray discs to watch 480i video? Doesn't DVD offer 5.1 audio? I'd keep your current DVD player and then add a Roku, rather that buy a Smart Blu-Ray player.
If you have a specific need why you need Blu-Ray in DR, then I'm sure someone could suggest a good model meeting your requirements.

There are many 5.1 audio discs that are available in Blu-Ray only editions. I want to be able to play them. You can't play them in a DVD player. That's what I'm asking.

What's your budget? How about $200 12GB PS3 slim. Think that meets all your requirements. Might even find it cheaper on sale.

Oh, when you said audio, I thought you meant audio output from movie discs. I get it now, sorry.

No problem, thanks for the suggestion. Hoping to keep it under $100, I realize many modern players will not have any video out other than HDMI. I may have to used market, which is fine, and if I can't find one with built in streaming I can always get a Roku X2.
But if I can fine one with all that, so much the better.
