Late show with Seth Myers- impressions?
#1
Anyone watch last night? I was pretty darned excited about it. Still happy, but felt as follows:
-The monologue. It's basically Weekend Update without any visuals. There is nobody who could have possibly watched this who had ever seen Seth on SNL who wouldn't have had the feeling that "something's missing."
-The interactions with Fred A. I worship the guy, and I do appreciate the insight into the art of comedy, but the improv stuff between all of the SNL alum when they appear on Jimmy is way to self-referential (do most people recognize that they're displaying the art of improv with reasonable competence rather than just being kind of lame?) and I sure hope that's not going to be a nightly thing.

On the positive side-- didn't know how the band would be but I was positively impressed..... and even I have a hard time looking away from a female drummer.

> impressions?

I've heard that this thing exists.

I'm certain that in some way this will influence the world and impact my life in much the same way as the motions of the lowliest mite in a cloud of dust must have some influence and impact.

Why did you have to go and get my thread moved to the political side?

Night 2-- much more relaxed and organic.
Impressed as hell with his interviewing skills. Absolutely excellent job with Kanye.

IMHO Myers was more relaxed and at ease than Fallon.

I've only seen the first episode, and was 50/50 about it. Good to hear it's improving as he goes along, hope that holds true.

There hasn't been a decent interviewer in late night network TV since Johnny. And I don't think that's the old fart in me talking. I have not had a chance to see Myers yet, here's hoping he can bring it back.
