Are you going to drop dropbox now that Condoleezza Rice is on the board?

Many here called for the dismissal of the Mozilla CEO because he donated to a very unsavory cause... how 'bout this? Evil henchwoman joins dropbox... do you make a stand... or just keep using it?

Me? I'm gonna keep using it without a thought of Condoleezza Rice.

If you value your privacy you should look at alternatives. Condi is tarred with the NSA brush and the Dropbox board should have known that this would not go down well with many of their users.

Spock,

Which alternatives to Dropbox? I've tried a few of them including box.com and spideroak.com and none have worked remotely as well as dropbox.com in terms of functionality.

Any service that encrypts your data is going to be slower than Dropbox. I'm keeping my free Dropbox for syncing my photos from iPhone to Mac but for secure data I'm looking at wuala.com and teamdrive.com in addition to spideroak.com.

BitTorrentSync is my choice for syncing....

Spock,

I'm less concerned about speed than I am about transparent functionality and reliability. I tried Spideroak which is one of the more secure options. The system is clunky and, far far worse, I lost data when using their system. Clunkiness is an annoyance. Lost data is unforgivable and inexcusable.

I didn't stop using Apple gear just because Al Gore was on the board. Why should I stop using Dropbox because Condi is on their board.

Condi is VERY intelligent.

Free DropBox doesn't offer much. Free Google Drive and SkyOne offer more Gigs.
