Ummm...

Not the greatest price.

The retail on that is $499.

Also $499 at Amazon, not much of a deal.
Not great reviews:

Chak says you won't find anything of quality for much less than this:

A friend has one of those, and the video coming off of the Gyro Gimbaled high-definition camera is amazing!

I got that BuyDig email too, and was getting close to doing some serious thinking about it.

I'm wondering how difficult it is to fly one of those. I would think it would be easier than flying a fully functional R/C helo, but that's how little I know about 'em.

And at the moment, they look very utilitarian. I'd like something with a little cooler look to it like the Syma helos. Or the drones on Almost Human.

But the idea of getting bird's eye video is really, really fascinating.

An episode of Top Gear had the lads using a pretty sophisticated drone (but not very pretty) and it looked like the thing was almost out of visual range but still showing video. Trés cool!

Having four of them programed to fly in formation would really freak out the neighborhood.

Both the $999 and $1299 version of the Phantom have the ability to navigate, hover and return by GPS when they pass out of sight.

...Although with only 10-15 minutes of flying time, it's not going too far.

I'm interested in the upcoming Parrot BeBop as it's compatible with the Oculus Rift among other things.

It looks very lightweight. I hope they didn't skimp on the battery.
