Free Bryce!
#1
From Macintouch:

"Through September 6, DAZ is offering free downloads of Bryce 5. (The download is Version 5.0.3; the current retail version is 5.5.) Bryce is a 3D tool for creating landscapes and animations and includes Light Lab, Tree Lab, and support for network rendering, among other features. The free download version will be eligible for upgrade pricing when Bryce 6 is released."

Here's what DAZ sez:

"It's now even easier to create breathtakingly realistic 3D landscapes and animations with DAZ Bryce. For a limited time, DAZ is pleased to offer Bryce 5 software absolutely FREE! Through September 6, 2006, you can download Bryce 5.0 for no charge via DAZ3D.com…the upgrade to DAZ Bryce 6.0 will only be available to owners of Bryce 5.0 and Bryce 5.5. Owners of older versions of Bryce will not be eligible.

This DAZ special offer will absolutely end on September 6, 2006!"

Been a Bryce user since 1.0, and I hope this isn't the death throws of an app. Vue 5 is just a better, newer Bryce-like application.
Bryce ownership has passed through more hands in the last few years than Paris Hilton, w/o any appreciable improvement.

Great fun for free though.

BTW, the download seems corrupted for me. ( Bryce5FreeVersion.sitx.txt) ???

Did you download from this link? It came through as a .sitx file here.

Strange, it downloads as a "Bryce5FreeVersion.sitx.txt" file, but if I change the suffix to just .sit, I can unstuff it.

There you go.

The free version 5.0 does not work under Tiger. It is for 10.3.9 and earlier.

That isn't good for a demo. I am using 10.3.9 though so I can play. However, my friend will not be too happy.
