Nice optics ... I worked for the company that made those in the 70's to 90's. There is nothing quite like the experience of being in a large scale optical grinding and assembly operation... Machines that use air bearings , little old Swiss guys with their secret recipes of grinding compound , etc. it was very very cool.

Those swiss guys used ground gnome teeth for the final polish. Only that travelocity guy survived the slaughter. You don't want to know what kind of tanned hide was the pad material.........

Racerx... it's quite possible. I knew one guy used 'biological materials' as a binding agent in one of his mixes. He made that male self gratification hand gesture when he said it, with a nasty little grin. I then asked him if he labelled it with a 'use by' date and 'hazardous to fertile females'. He about died laughing and got the universal gesture of Teutonic working man acceptance... "You're okay for an engineer. I'd let you buy me a beer !"

And I did.

As an aside: this reflects the increasing suck-ness of dpreview. That story was on Petapixel early yesterday. Slow to review, slow on the news....It's all about the forum traffic generating page views over there.

UH-oh.
The Pentax to Nikon/Canon representation must have fallen off there.
