Good question... while sharks are attracted to blood, are they attracted to fear-induced poop ?

Sure, but that shark weighs more than the one in the movie.

Part of why Jaws works so well is the sheer size of the film shark. During the movie, it is described as 25 feet long and weighing 3 tons. Camera tricks are employed to reinforce the enormity of the predator bent on destruction.

b'man... Benchley's book (and screenplay) had it as a Great White. No question about it. (I read the book one summer on Long Island before the film came out. Kind of freaked me out.)
Benchley DID go on to write a book about an escaped Nazi shark creature, but never wrote about Megalodons. |
