My friends use it too. But a few months ago, it tried to send me cross country through a golf course.

On this summer's epic road trip, I relied on Navmii, which can download maps and store locally on your phone.

Quack former Royalty, I don't currently drive far enough in a week to keep in the top 1%.

It's far from perfect for driving but I like it better than Google Maps. My experience might be out of date because I haven't driving with an iPhone user recently. Waze would recalculate a route much faster. iPhone would waste a few minutes trying to get you back on the route.

Seems to be the case. I could swear this piece made the point that Google was required to direct traffic onto larger roads but WAZE had gone under the radar... must have seen that somewhere else.

Took me through a bank parking lot once, and it cut 5 minutes off of my trip.

...But it can't deal with changing traffic conditions as well since Google bought the company.

I find that I have to come up with my own routes pretty often to get around traffic that it should have routed me around. Instead, it just ticks up my arrival-time. Luckily, I remember some of the innovative routes it came up with before the acquisition.
