Or whatever the last version of iT 11.x was.
iT 12.2 was needed to activate my Air 2.
I think 11.x had a similar graphics intensive interface but it could be changed to the "classic" song list, which is what I did.
I'm guessing that this isn't the case with 12.2? (It's just finished downloading, so it's off to install.
My 10.6.8 volume has the older style iT, but I don't know its version, off hand.
All the graphics stuff in the newer versions looks spiffy, but I really have a hard time using it quickly to manually choose random songs. If this version has the "classic" list option, I'll be ok.

Click the little music icon in the upper-left of the window. Click the word "Playlists" slightly to the right of that. Click the menu all the way to the right on the same line to change from album view to song-view.
From the View menu, select "Show status bar."
...I hope that you don't have a lot of podcast subscriptions. The new interface will make you want to put your Mac through the window.

Thanks, Ona. That's a big help.

I have, I'm just not sure about what that portends.
The A2 was plugged into iT to activate it. I haven't synced yet.
The plan was to sync the A2 to the Gen 3's back up to get all my music and playlists on it, then operate is as a different 'Pad and occasionally back it up to iTunes.
It's 128G, so backing up to iCloud isn't a consideration.
And I'm still in the dark about iCloud syncing in general. I'm avoiding iCould Drive.
More details on cord cutting would be appreciated, assuming I haven't already, if inadvertently, started down the Dark Side.

Well, 128 GB would only be a problem if it was really full, I guess? And like everything else, its incremental, so even if it was half full, it doesnt need to back up all 64 GB everytime it syncs.
I know TONs of people that dont even have a computer, much less a mac, just their phone/pad.
They use free flickr for photos, and the 99¢ 20 GB iCloud for backup. Or my brother, who does the $10 1 TB backup for the whole family.
The wireless backup to iCloud is pretty seamless. Lots of great tutorials on wireless setup, backup, etc.. Just a few settings.
