Appliance purchase -- Amazon vs Home Depot/Lowes?
#1
Need a new dishwasher -- one we like is about $60 cheaper on amazon.

Same everything else.

Any advantage/disadvantage to not buying locally?

If it's a dud, how do you have to send it back?

I like having a local company to call and scream at.

Maybe Lowes/HD will take away your old one?

I recently bought new washer dryer at Lowes. Good pricing, good financing, delivery/haul away, and someone local for any issues...

Shipping/delivery costs?

...or how about buying from a local company that is not a national chain...keep the profit in the community rather than sending it to some corporate fat cats elsewhere.

However, given your two choices, buy it at the Lowes/HD so that at least you support local brick and mortar employees, plus you have an easier time if you need to return or have the item fixed.

As mentioned above:

Is there a shipping charge on Amazon?
Local/state taxes charged by Amazon?
Are you planning to install it or are you paying somebody to do it for you?
What about removal of the old one? You handling that or paying somebody to take it away.

My personal preference on a big item like this is I would go local. Especially if it comes damaged, does not work right, etc. Plus delivery usually includes setup and taking away the old unit. Sometimes, my brother has done this, is you can negotiate free delivery if they charge for it, etc. with Lowes on stuff like this. YMMV however.

Lowes and HD are running black friday pre deals and general sales and you might be able to move up in model/quality for the same price or close to it.

We bought a stove from Lowes and later discovered one of the feet would not fit right causing it to be off balanced. Called the store and they sent somebody out to fix the problem. Stuff like that happens.

Go for the cheaper one. Check out BestBuy for the same model?
