Did anyone watch the first episode? I found it interesting but it seemed like a lot of back story was missing. I didn't really understand a lot of what happened. Perhaps they will fill in the gaps on future episodes.
Jessica Jones first episode (possible spoilers)

I thought they were a little heavy-handed with hints about what happened to her in almost every scene.
Same thing that happened to that girl. Except that she lucked out and got free. And yes, they fill in more of the back-story in the next few episodes. Second one is pretty in-your-face with it.

Just finished episode 2... Starting to come together, and I'm liking it!
I know nothing about the comic, but i like the casting. Plenty of subtle and not-subtle breadcrumbs for the backstory, and it's being revealed at the right rate... In my opinion. No wasting time with long sob story expositions that they'll have to backpedal later.... Can't decide if I want to binge watch the rest, or savor it over a couple weeks.

Just finished it.
Quite a few more ups and downs than I usually sit through and I have trouble buying the source of the bad guy's powers, but it had interesting characters, good plotlines overall and a satisfying arc. Some people on this forum said they wouldn't watch because Krysten Ritter didn't have the chops. I think she totally owned that character. I'm very encouraged for the Luke Cage series now.

I've watched the first two episodes, and it was- ok.
I like the idea that we don't know anything about her, at first. And I don't know anything about the character at all, except what I'll learn from this show. There's nothing about the show that really sells me on it. I had the same feeling with Constintine. I just couldn't get interested in the characters. I really like Ritter in Gravity, though.

Ona,
Agreed. I know the background of the character and can say without a doubt Krysten Ritter nailed the character. The anger. The angst. The self-doubt. You name it. The one thing they didn't get quite right is the appearance of the character. Based on the books, Jessica Jones tended to look a tough less attractive than the average comic book superhero and her hair isn't black. This is just me nitpicking. Other than that, the series is excellent so far. Definitely a solid extension to the "street" crime part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I also like how they handled Luke Cage. Again, very well done. Robert |
