Oh God. Now I've done it.

Something installed itself or rather latched itself onto Safari. These weird popover ads are appearing and sometimes when I click on text boxes (like the body of this post) Safari opens a page to some virus protection software. I've checked for odd extensions but I don't use extensions and don't see anything odd. I'm not sure what else to do? Here are some pic examples of the popover ads that show up:

And it wants me to install MacKeeper but I ddon't of course.

Rollback your machine from your Timemachine backup to yesterday, or earlier today when this wasn't happening.

WELL, funny you should mention that - I've been having issues with my backup drive and - long story short - can't.

preferences -> extensions. there's likely something there you should remove.

The ads seem to be coming from somewhere called "Offerz4u"

can you clear the safari cache, history, and (yes) reboot your machine?

Malwarebytes.com...

Just had a teacher get her laptop all bunged up by ad-ware. That flushed it right out.
