now that Plasma TVs are history, what do we choose for very good picture quality? and no, I don't care about 4K. just curious of OLED or something else comes close or even beats Plasma TVs in picture quality (not resolution)?

Thanks

OLED PQ handily beats the best PQ offered by any plasma TV ever, including the venerable Pioneer Kuro.

Unfortunately, the technology has not yet progressed to the point where most people would consider it affordable.

LG is working very hard at bringing the price down for OLED. Check prices over Super Bowl weekend... and after for returns.

Oh, prices will eventually come down, as they always do... assuming the technology isn't abandoned before that can happen. I don't see that happening, though.

When my Panasonic plasma bit the dust I was very sad. I replaced it with OLED but the price brought a tear to my eye. The quality is stunning though. Better than the plasma by far especially in daylight.

I've been wondering this myself. Glad to hear the answers.

One question, are the viewing angles on oled as good as plasma?

I would say the viewing angle of my OLED is as good or better than the plasma was. The screen brightness is tremendously better. The plasma would wash out in sunlight where the OLED looks perfect in sunlight. While expensive it was a significant upgrade.

All true. Contrast ratios for OLED far surpass plasma, too.
