More OS's obsolete.

I've been updating software today... Just FYI for those of you on older systems I see the newest Kodi (17 - Krypton) now requires 10.7, and Dropbox for ios now officially lists ios as "officially unsupported", but still seems to work.

In that vein, 10.9.5 is unsupported by Blizzard for their games, but so far the ones I have tried worked okay. Did run into problems with 10.8.

Current GoPro software requires 10.10

it bother me that you need to updated software AND hardware quite often these days. The upgrade cycles are too damn short for my taste. By the time I am done updating and fine-tuning all my devices, the next wave of OS/iOS updates is on the horizon.

After SL was released, Apple said that OS releases would start being far less frequent.

That was true until after Lion was released. At least the updates up to and including SL were mostly about fixing "under the hood" type stuff that needed fixing.

:agree:

It's clear Apple now favors their "bleeding edge" customers - the ones who are willing to wait in line to be the first to buy the latest iThing and use it openly as a show of loyalty regardless of the state of readiness and reliability of the hardware/software combination for real world workflows. It's symptomatic of a company that would sooner cultivate popularity contests amongst users than provide real engineering resources to solve customer problems.

Gmail will be dropping support for Windows Vista and earlier, so dropping support isn't limited to OS X.

Vista dates back to 2007, a somewhat older date than OS X Mavericks from 2013. Even Snow Leopard is newer than Vista, released in 2009 the same year as Windows 7. I don't see stories about dropping support for applications running on Win 7.
