Another School Shooting - At an Elementary School
#1
Ugh. Two adults now confirmed dead. Several children shot. Apparently the gunman killed himself. Terrible. Can't imagine the psychological scars from this one.

Must've been a pretty serious "dispute" to play out like this.

No one knows for sure right now, but it's likely the case that either a boyfriend or husband - someone the office staff knew well - did the shooting. It'd have to be someone well known to the office staff - that's about the only way a shooter would've been able to get past them without triggering an immediate lockdown response. The "public" doesn't just drop into a school for a visit anymore - a random person - someone without a student in the school or the classroom - would have been accompanied by the principal at the very least. Most California schools are now tiny fortresses once the school day begins. And in this case it was true - and the only access was through the office.

Of course, it's also possible the shooter climbed a tall fence or did some kind of parachute jump - but that possibility is much smaller than the one that would have him being someone the school knew well enough to let in and would have little or no reason to be suspicious about.

According to the article, the gunner was not targeting the children but that they were near his intended adult victim. Another very tragic domestic shooting.

These thing will unfortunately happen when there is a location with little or no chance of opposition. Crappy situation for sure.

My employer recently completed a project to provide video surveillance at all schools in that district. It sounds somewhat macabre, but I have been curious about whether the system we installed provided any tactical advantages to the respondents.

Sure matt, make guns disappear and the violence will magically vanish.

If you've ever possessed gasoline and styrofoam at the same time, you were a potential terrorist.

And, as we all know, spousal/partner abuse often involves gasoline and styrofoam threats.
