Ha ha ha,
When the wifee and I were in college, she was a mentor for incomming freshmen. She wondered why they werent as dedicated as she was to college(everything fun came before classes and work for some of her mentees(sic?) ).
In my third year, I worked for a professor in Economics. He had asked me if the Econ 101 class was difficult. I told him, NO, but he wondered why soooo many students failed his class. The only reasons I could think of was lack of attention and attendance. (I was one of his top students and I sat near the exit in the back of a huge lecture hall). His class was the easiest class I ever had.

I've always liked that one.
I've always like that one, too, but I have not yet had a job where I could get away with saying it...

Sorry, you've got him exporting WORD documents as html?!
And you're a teacher?
Look, I don't want to get down on you -- and clearly there was an issue of time-constraints -- but JEEBUS! Teach the kid about having some minimal standards.

It comes down to aptitudes and abilities. My freshman chem class was at 8 AM. I went the first week and that was it, except for the recitation classes (which were at a much more reasonable hour!).
I aced every exam & the final. Many, many people failed. The class was so "by the book" that attendance was not necassary.

No, not converting to web pages from Word. The professors are instructing them to use Netscape 1.) because it's free and 2.) because they don't want to learn something new. My feeling is at least they're getting to know something about coding and the old-school style of creating a website before they move into something really easy (like iWeb).

I too like this one a lot. i finally got to use it on one of my coworkers. She reported me to HR. It was worth it though.
