Georgia Tech cops shoot and kill transgender student
#1
4th year GA Tech engineering student Scout Schultz, who was taking part in a campus protest, was shot once by campus police when they refused to drop what looks like a small utility knife. They died later at the hospital.

The Georgia Tech Progressive Student Alliance wrote this on Facebook:
We are distraught over the loss of Scout Schultz. They were an incredible, inspirational member of our community and a constant fighter for human rights. Please join us in celebrating and honoring their life and the contributions they made to campus and the greater Atlanta community.

First you can't bring your Leatherman into a school, then onto an airplane and now engineering students get shot for carrying them.

Georgia also just passed concealed carry on college campuses a few months ago. That apparently is not doing much to calm the cops' nerves.

In this day and age I refuse to believe there isn't a way to knock someone down and/or incapacitate them that doesn't have to include murdering them. Maybe if cops weren't constantly let off for this they wouldn't be so casual about their homicidal actions.

Why are U.S. universities arming themselves with grenade launchers?

In August, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced at a Fraternal Order of Police convention that Program 1033 would resume providing ex-military equipment to police organizations, including university police departments.

Program 1033 has been running since the 1990s but was stopped two years ago by President Obama. Part of the program’s initial aim was for “use in drug enforcement by federal and state law enforcement.” As we well know, the “war on drugs” has been an abysmal failure.

As part of the program, already at least 117 colleges and universities received surplus-military gear. At least 117 places of higher education felt they needed military gear. At least 117 educational institutions are now armed and armored. This is the state of higher education in the US...

When I first went to college, there was an outcry over campus police carrying batons and handcuffs. They were expected to call the "real" police if there was ever anything they couldn't handle with a whistle and a stern voice.

I don't recall a single protest when I was in college starting in 1949. We celebrated an NCAA win by riding around in cars on campus pass curfew hours. Times have changed.

Let's not jump to conclusions. Article on NBC.com says,

An engineering student who was also an LGBTQ activist was shot and killed by Georgia Tech campus police on Saturday night, officials said Sunday.

The school identified the victim as Scout Schultz, 21, a fourth year engineering student from Lilburn, Georgia, who police said was armed with a knife. They made contact with him outside of a campus parking garage after they received a 911 call at 11:17 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The original call reported that Schultz was also carrying a gun, officials said.

In a video taken by a witness, Schultz can be heard yelling "Shoot me!" at police, as they tell him to drop the knife.

In a screengrab made from video taken by a witness, an officer points a gun at Georgia Tech student Scout Schultz who authorities say was armed with a knife at the West Campus residential community of Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017. Maxim Mints

"Nobody wants to hurt you," an officer says in the video.

But as Schultz continued to ignore the officers commands and stepped forward with the knife, a single shot rang out and Schultz's screams can be heard.

Lets see that video... but it sure sounds like suicide by cop to me.

Just because someone yells Shoot Me doesn't mean the cops HAVE to shoot them. It's optional. Especially when the "knife" is some teeny tiny multi-tool.

You probably didn't threaten people and/or cops with weapons nor dare them to shoot you either.
Note to the young, naive and mental midgets, in this age of bombs in buckets and out-of-control looney leftists, you'll be taken out to protect the others if you insist on it.

And if you're armed with nothing more than a knife...sorry, but the officers in change should be able to find a different outcome.
