My freak-out-o-meter needle is in the orange zone
#1
My freak-out-o-meter runs the rainbow from a mellow violet to a bloody red. It's firmly in the orange range - that is, I'm getting moderately freaked out about what is happening in the world and the US in particular (my freak-out-o-meter is especially tuned to the US since I live here).

My wife and I are moving our IRA accounts from investments in stocks and bonds to bank IRA accounts that are insured under FDIC. That could very well be an overreaction but I can't shake this feeling that it's getting more likely that things can go really wrong really fast. A couple of years of lower interest earned feels worth not risking a big chunk of the principle we have saved through giving up a lot of stuff we could have had or done.

I'm beginning to feel like I did when I was a young kid and just KNEW that there was a monster in the closet that would come out at night and get me. I'd pull my blanket over my head and I'd feel safer.

Is there a monster in the closet? I want my blankee.

Never panic and never freak out. Because it doesn't help anything. If you believe that the moves you're making are prudent and sound, then do what you gotta do.

We have a madman as president and a GOP that's trying to ride him like a pony. Our democracy flew past a number of fail safe's. Last year many of us and others stated loudly that the United States was in a National Crisis. People played games anyway.

1. The Republican Party had no provisions to stop this madman from taking over their party. If they had Superdelegates for example, Trump isn't their nominee.

2. A population that contained enough individual that thought that it was prudent to throw shade, vilify and then not cast a vote FOR Hillary Clinton, the only possible option to stopping Trump.

3. The Electoral College malfunctioned due to the states re-defining the role of their assigned delegates. The EC was specifically designed to stop HIM.

4. A GOP legislature that is more concerned about their careers than the country as a whole. They are traitors.

So there is no telling what can happen. They stole a Supreme Court Justice. That ain't good. If RBG falters.

Welcome to ACT III. It started around August 25th.

This is just a guess. But I think ACT III has begun.

Now that the eclipse is over, our last great moment of joy and unity, it's time for things to turn really bad.

*Hurricane
*Pardon Sheriff Joe
*Nazi action against the transgender Armed Forces.
*North Korea fires a missile.
*Lots of stuff to follow.
I think we are here. And I definitely don't want to be here. Good luck.

Since then, THREE more vicious hurricanes, TWO major earthquakes, Trump persecutes 800,000 DACA kids, North Korea missiles and nuke blast, Republicans on state and national levels assault freedoms, civil rights voting rights, Trump threatens to destroy North Korea, dissing allies while kissing up to Putin. Even more suspect police shootings. Those are just a few which come to mind.

and in case you aren't convinced:

And you know things are going to get uglier.

Tell me not to freak out and then remind me of all the reasons I feel like freaking out?! Confusedmiley-shocked003:

Acer, not quite right. Thirty percent of America is like this:

I think your picture captures the non-crazy 70% of the country very well.

Then you are obviously not appreciating the gravity of the situation. The sick, the persecuted are ignored... the bloated rich gain power and money at the cost of the average citizen. Or are you waiting for Trump's empowered thugs to come knocking on your neighbor's door?
