You must not be in So Cal where the lawns stopped being green at least a decade ago. Actually, many around here will be getting greener lawns (or at least greener weed patches - we like to call them native gardens and indigenous plants) once the winter rains start in a few days.

This is an annual event where I am, but here it starts mid-June and ended 6 weeks ago. Not much green to see at the moment because of the snow. If it doesn't rain today, I might get the mower out to pick up the leaves.

Our grass and weeds are green, but you have to remove all the brown leaves. Mulched, blew, and raked leaves yesterday until exhausted. We had a period from July thru September with very little rain and the grass went dormant, but not the weeds. We've had rain the last 2 or 3 weeks and the grass has come back.

When I was growing up, my dad always said he was going to replace all the grass with concrete and paint it green.

The misses is an avid planter of all kinds of plants, trees, etc. Takes me as long to run the trimmer as to run the mower. Have told her at times that I would not mind plastic flowers, bushes, and this.
![]() BTW she mentioned today that the time is near for us to go out and do our "fall trim" of every living bush and small tree in our 1/2 acre yard. :argh:

Brown is better than the four inches of white we had this morning.
