First:
There is no campaign violation. The payment was made to resolve a personal and false allegation in order to protect the President's family. It would have been done in any event, whether he was a candidate or not.
Huh. How come those dozen or more women that say that Trump manhandled them didn't get a nice check, if he's so willing to pay off
false accusers to "protect his family"?

I think he has his story straight.
Trump tosses a fig leaf to his base, saying that Giuliani has it wrong, without actually specifying how. Then his base can make up an excuse in their own minds for this POS.

This reminds me a little bit of the time Trump's lawyer John Dowd said he was the one that sent the "I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI" tweet - which would have been fairly strong evidence of illegal behavior on Trump's part if he could be collared for sending the tweet. But in that case Dowd probably had zero to do with the original tweet and just fell on his sword for Trump. In this case, I'm sure Trump and Giuliani cooked this up together and in their diminished state of mental capacity between the two of them they didn't see how stupid it was. Once it was exposed as being stupid, well, then, of course, Giuliani had to take the fall. That's the way it seems to me anyway.

"This circus of lies is exhausting." Rachel Maddow
Fortunately Mr. Mueller doesn't seem to be getting tired. I think he has 45, Don jr, Ivanka and Jared at the edge of the cliff, saving the best for last, and the crazy lies show their desperation.
