A couple of baseball questions from 1960-61
#1
Anyone remember who the third guy was in the home run race with Mantle and Maris who dropped out before the race got really hot?

Anyone remember what time of day Mazeroski hit the homer to beat the Yankees?

Jim Gentile and Harmon Killebrew each had 46 in '61.

My friend and I thought maybe it was Killebrew. We had been talking about how he was better than he got credit for, even though he got a lot of credit.

As for Mazerowski, I thought I heard the home run during recess at school, but I wondered if I misremembered it. He thought school was out by that time.

Maz's homer was during wood shop out here on the west coast. Hard-Luck Harvey sorta made up for losing a perfect game for 12 innings the prior year.

Thanks. That shows the homer at 2:36 CST, which confirms my memory of it happening while I was at school. I was a Yankee fan but for some reason I was pulling for Pittsburg that year.

I knew I remembered this and low an behold:

Bill Mazeroski appeared on I've Got A Secret the week after the series was over where panelist Bill Cullen (a native of Pittsburgh) was made a happy man. Starts at 9:11 in the video.
