Cool
I had one as a kid. Bought two from Best Buy today. All of my local targets were out of stock. They can be easily modded to run any nes game, not just the 30 that come with it.

I got one too. Actually I got two. Ordered one from Bestbuy, but they had a stack in Target later this afternoon, so I bought one and tried but couldn't cancel the Bestbuy order.
There's an app that unlocks these to play most NES or SNES ROMs.

Loaded the NES classic, picked up a SNES classic for my birthday when it showed up on Amazon for a day, have yet to add more ROMs to it. IIRC the app works In Windows only, so you need to boot windows on your Mac to get it loaded if you don’t have a physical PC.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out was one of the funnest games ever. It was cool figuring out patterns and strategies to beat the boxers.
Needs Kung Fu, Karate Champ, Rush N'Attack, 1942/1943, Ooooo,,, and Gunsmoke was pretty fun. Ikari Warriors. Damn, so many memories.

We also still have an original NES that Grandma bought for the grandkids... it's already outlived her by twelve years and counting. Baby Buzz fires it up every once on awhile.
Definitely good news for all but the scalpers.

Really tried to order one of these online... One seller sold out BEFORE I could click through and complete the transaction. And I already had an account there, all I had to do was click "buy", "continue", "enter credit card info" and "complete purchase"...
I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't sell these direct. Then they would know how many to make, and they could capture a cut of the scalper's profits. I'd gladly pay Nintendo $90 but I will not pay some scalper $200 or even $120.
I was lucky to nab a SNES last fall... but I really want the NES.

I was going to jump on the Atari VCS bandwagon, but it looks sketchier every day. Hope they can get to an actual product, but it doesn't look like it's worth risking money on at this point.

The Atari Flashback 8 Gold or Atari Flash 8 Gold Activision edition should fulfill your Atari VCS yearning. Both have HDMI 720p output and wireless Joystick controllers.
