Regime change in Algeria?....
#1
So far it is nonpolitical, just an interesting theater in the French sphere of influence and we do not have any fingers in this pie.
I have some Algerian friends and some business ties and this is potentially quite big.
There is an election coming up and comatose Abdelaziz flies or flees to Geneva.
Bouteflika has held on to power for 20 years, to his credit he has bloodily suppressed a major jihadi uprising in early 2000s, I did not think at the time that he would have succeeded or survived.
Politically this has been an extremely skillful regime, utmost byzantine the way it has managed to stay in power.
After a prolonged political quiet following that ruthless war, there is an uncharacteristic wave of protests against the symbiotically corrupt regime....
