Favorite/least favorite game show hosts
#1
My favorite by far is Bill Cullen. My least favorite is Bob Eubanks, followed closely by Chuck Woolery.

My favorites are on Brit game shows: Jimmy Carr, Rachel Riley, Stephen Frye, and Sandi Toksvig.

Over here, yes, Bill Cullen, early Gene Rayburn, moments of Steve Harvey, and Dre Carey.

Least, or dislike entirely – most everybody else.

I may be missing some in both categories.

Alex Trebek. Intelligent, professional. Minimal inane or risqué yammering. The gold standard, IMHO.

To me, 'game show host' is right up there with 'used car salesman'. Toss 'em all!

Groucho Marx. I could never stand Chuck Woollery, though Steve Harvey is pretty awful too.

I liked Richard Dawson's sense of humor. He made Family Feud entertaining. Chuck Barris was also up there. Was he really a CIA assassin? The movie made it seem plausible. Confusedmiley-shocked003:

favorite and least liked Michael Palin

Blackmail
Series 2
Episode:Live from the Grill-O-Mat

Blackmail is a sketch that appears in "Live from the Grill-O-Mat," the eighteenth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
A smarmy television gameshow host (Michael Palin) extorts money from his viewers by threatening to reveal embarrassing, confidential or illegal secrets about them.

Several photos (or parts thereof) are shown as the host obliquely discusses the subject's situation. In talking about the people involved, he uses their initials, towns of residence, names of their children and/or social positions, then smilingly threatens to reveal more if not paid promptly. After each round, we briefly see a nude organist playing a couple of chords. The final game is "Stop The Film," where a scandalous film is played until a phone call is received, and the amount of money needed increases the longer the subject waits. The increasing amount of money is shown by a set of numerical indicator tubes, the amount increasing continuously.

I liked Peter Marshall and Gene Rayburn. I'm sure I'm forgetting others. Best name has to go to Wink Martindale, though.
