"Twenty-seven years ago, David was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and given a grim prognosis of a few years to live," Charles Koch said in Friday's statement. "David liked to say that a combination of brilliant doctors, state-of-the-art medications and his own stubbornness kept the cancer at bay. We can all be grateful that it did, because he was able to touch so many more lives as a result."

The family suffers from the same basic ailment all staunch conservatives have: a stunning lack of perspective about life. Now amplify it by the billions they’ve made off the backs of, and contempt of, others.

Every philanthropic gift he gave since his early-90s near-death plane crash is sullied by his actions as part of America’s worst offenders against basic democracy. He can pretty much go to hell.
