A bit of an outlier.
How often is there going to be video evidence showing that the perpetrator wasn't in jeopardy and instigated the incident by threatening a woman with two infant children? If that's what it takes to convict people who treat "stand your ground" as a license to kill any time that they feel a violent urge, it's no help at all.

That case went through the courts pretty quickly with a somewhat expected outcome. One county over another Stand Your Ground defense has been languishing for years. Accused shot and killed another man in a movie theater because he felt endangered when the victim threw popcorn at him. I'm quite sure that the fact the accused is a retired Sheriff's official has nothing to do with the delay (sarcasm intended).
Living here, I follow one simple rule of survival - never argue with a stranger about anything. |
