Diet Coke shortage because of coronavirus?
#1
Splenda comes from China!

Coca-Cola says coronavirus has disrupted its supply chain, and artificial sweeteners from China could be in shorter supply if the outbreak continues to spread.

The primary artificial sweeteners Coca-Cola (KO) uses in its products include aspartame, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, saccharin, cyclamate and steviol gylcosides. In its annual report, Coca-Cola indicated that it considered sucralose — the sugar substitute better known as Splenda and used in products such as Powerade Zero and Diet Coke with Splenda — a "critical raw material" sourced from suppliers in the US and China.

Good opportunity to move to a less harmful sweetener, like stevia or monk fruit.

Also, a very large percent of our meds come from the PRC. Could be shortages of those..

Nothing cuts alcohol like real sugar.
Mountain Dew and Rum rocks.

It's scary how much of this garbage people drink.

Huge warehouses in China (and other countries) with poor sanitary conditions, cross-contamination, and who knows what other toxins in the environment.

Gross.

I'm sure I'll hear it from my wife when she can't buy her weekly hoard of DC. I've been trying to get her off that crap for years.

I'm currently weaning myself of diet pop. I'm down to one can a day, and when my stash runs out, I hope to be finished with the stuff.

A long time pop drinker here, starting out with the sugar sweetened formula when I was a kid, then graduating to the diet pop for many years.

Water is now my go to drink now, with a little milk and juice from time to time.

I don't think I've ever bought more than one soda at a time, and I quit doing even that over 20 years ago.

Regular soda has something like 10-15 teaspoons of sugar per can, and all diet soda has a horrible aftertaste to me, so I simply quit drinking the stuff.

I've been primarily a water person since then.

Other stuff I drink is coffee, which is sweetened with less than a teaspoon of sugar per big mug.

I also drink some milk, beer, and wine.

I've noticed something of a shortage at the store, and the usual sales are not present.
