I just put a Power Mac 7600 and a SCSI enclosure with a 1.2 GB HD in it in the attic. It's sitting next to a Performa 475 and a Powerbook 520c.

Why do I do this?

Yap, I have a buddy like that except the room in the pic has less stuff. He actually has paths to navigate through the clutter.

... but he has some of the most interesting stuff from Free Kids meal prizes (unopened) from the 70's or 80's forward to old electronic equipment.

Except every other mac person in the world already had that idea, and only the free museums would ever be solicited. Even then, unless they had every model of every mac every made, I don't think I would go.

So back to the hoarding thing- I find that if I simply don't have the space for stuff I stop looking. When I lived in a big house I would keep an eye out for things that I could use or thought were valuable somehow. Now that I'm in a smaller apartment I simply don't have room for more random junk. That and most of the furniture and other large things I currenly own I got for free, so that sort of satisfies my need to be thrifty. I don't necessarily prize possessions, but I have pride in knowing that I didn't pay for them. Make sense?
