I've been reading about charities where you buy a goat or a cow rather than simply fund money. Anyone ever do this? Through what organization?

Heifer International has a program where you can give individual animals to families that need a source of milk, cheese or eggs.

The members of the Chik-Fil-A Charitable Foundation strongly support donating a cow of a goat. They'll even spring for a spit and matches.

My inlaws gave a sheep to (or via?) Heifer International in our name. I am disappointed to hear that someone did not receive a sheep with our name cut out of its fleece.

There's a guy in our company that solicits donations each year to give goats to AIDS orphans in Africa, via World Vision. Last year we gave 245 goats; we're approaching 100 so far this year.
