Baby, if you've ever wondered... WKRP (officially) coming to DVD!

Discussed here before, and I know there's some grey market DVDs available, but WKRP IN CINCINNATI is finally coming to DVD.

The news is not all stellar, however; some of the series' music will be replaced -- and it's said that the producers of the DVD did their best to match the style of the music with something contemporary to the show's airing and that it fit the scene.

Personally, I can think of maybe half a dozen instances where the music was really key to the scene. One in particular, when Les was getting ready for a big date -- with Jennifer, I think -- and he was getting dressed to Foreigner's "Hot Blooded". (I seem to remember EWF's "After the Love has Gone" and the song "Tiny Dancer" (the Soviet defector episode) being key as well...)

"I swear I thought they could fly." I still snicker every time I think of that Thanksgiving turkey giveaway episode. Big Grin

Jennifer: Now, Herb, I want you to go to the parking lot, find a car with the nicest seat covers you can find, and make them into a sports jacket.

and

Johnny Fever: Listen, when everyone's out to get you, paranoid is just good thinking.

(I still use that one)

You simply can't have the $5000 contest episode without the actual clips.

I think I'll go grey market.

"you gotta hide me, Andy... it's the Phone Cops... the Phone Cops are after me! They blew up the transmitter... Man, those Phone Cops play hardball!"

That whole sequence ("the name of the horse is "Fevers Break"... the GODS are screaming in my ears, Venus!"), brings tears of laughter to my eyes whenever I think of it...

Like right now...

So does "As god is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly"..

And Mr Carlson sprinkling cocaine on his feet...

Damn.. you know.. I think I might have to buy that DVD set...

Remember when Herb had his feelings hurt because the gay guy didn't hit on him?

Lonnie was cast as the bombshell, and complained when the studio complained about her nipples showing through her sweater. Gotta love the girl, and her girls.

But Jan Smithers was the real surprise. She did some TV stuff after WKRP, and showed off that huge rack. Yum!

Loved Jan Smithers. Always thought Bailey was far sexier than Jennifer.
