Cool New Google Maps Feature!
#1
don't know how long it's been around but i just noticed it today.

you can add destinations when you search for directions. if i had needed to make a few stops, i used to have to make separate maps for each. now you can simple add destinations to the original map.

it doesn't appear to do 'best routing' but then again, i don't have time to explore at the moment. but even this is a welcome addition for my needs.

Yeah, I just noticed that as well a couple of days ago. I wonder how long it's been there.

If you are looking for a "best route" solution, I posted this tip a while back:

Here is a direct link to the site:

so, let me get this straight:

you set up a Google account, which you probably already have because you're a cheap bastard who will happily let Google handle all your email as long as they don't charge you money for it. So now they know all about your email life. Now you go into Google maps and tell it more about yourself by logging into your account and doing all your address and direction searches, as well as setting up destinations that Google stores--just to be a nice guy, right?

Y'all wait. 20 years from now, those of you who gave your lives to Google will seriously regret it.

elmo3, you should paint the scenario. Be more illustrative. Google is just there "to serve man."

Please calm down. You don't have to have a Gmail account or a Google account to use it. I understand and respect your stance on Google (I too think they're going off the deep end) but not every single thing is a trigger for vitriol.

I respect specifically your opinions quite a bit elmo3, but the knee jerk reactions are becoming somewhat tiresome, even for me.

Really faulty assumptions on your part. The first one is that using Google maps requires any sort of registration.

The discussion is:

[quote graylocks]you can add destinations when you search for directions.
Are you all telling me that you can add destinations *without* logging into an account?

last time I looked, the answer was "no".

Yes, yes you can. It's on the front page where it says, "New! Multi-point directions: Click and drag to rearrange stops." I just entered three addresses that I never frequent and it gave me multistop directions: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=central+park,+ny,+ny&daddr=6+World+Trade+Ctr,+New+York,+NY+10048+to:1515+broadway,+ny,+ny&sll=40.743485,-73.993607&sspn=0.074653,0.142822&ie=UTF8&z=13&om=1

I also used a different browser that I never use my Gmail account in. I am not logged in right now.
