actually my wifes Zen. It was a gift.
She's no audiophile but don't want to get her junk either. She's a bit rough on the tiny cable types. Pods, not in ears.

I am old, and know the obscure headphone reference. Youngsters don't realize that earbuds used to be headphones that actually fit like big cans that surrounded your ears.

buds or phones $100 or so, though I have access to Senns for cost and am considering Sennheiser PXC 250.
I don't think she'd care much about NC, but for the few times a year she flies. Comfort is most important, and in ears are definitely out.
