The new congress is seated January 3rd, so he will no longer be the majority leader.

Edit: But the tie-breaker will be Pence until the 20th, so I guess it don't make no nevermind.

They can have the trial after the 20th, I believe. The important thing is to make sure he can never hold federal office again. We have to worry about a foreign power funding another run by him.
