The 'real' attnys hired to defend Trump impeachment (with great fanfare) have dropped out
#1
With a little more than a week before his impeachment trial is set to begin, President Trump's legal team is in tumult.

Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier, who were expected to be two of the lead attorneys, are no longer on the team. A source familiar said it was a mutual decision for both to leave the legal team.

"The Democrats' efforts to impeach a president who has already left office is totally unconstitutional and so bad for our country. In fact, 45 Senators have already voted that it is unconstitutional. We have done much work, but have not made a final decision on our legal team, which will be made shortly," former Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller told CNN.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

He doesn't need representation - the FIX is in.

Pres. Trump must have seen what they were getting for a retainer. He knows he doesn’t have to put up any defense whatsoever.

My hunch is that Trump wants to use his impeachment trial to keep bringing up that he was denied the presidency he should have had if it weren't for the massive fraud by Democrats. If he wants to seriously pursue that, he's going to have to try to present evidence for his claims. Serious lawyers probably see that as a largely irrelevant to the single charge in the impeachment/indictment and more likely to hurt his case than help it because there is no credible evidence for them to present. (Of course, he could find lackey lawyers to do it if he really wanted it done.)

But I don't think Trump cares whether or not it would help with his impeachment trial because he knows the Republicans in the Senate will let him off the hook anyway. I think if he tries to go that route it will be because he thinks it will help keep his base intact. Never give up!

Wonder if the lawyers wanted to be paid up front and T, of course refuses.

I suspect his primary interest now is keeping the grift going, he's never going to be President again and (unless COVID undid him) he's astute enough to realize this. The GOP as a whole is only interested in keeping his voting block intact.
