OMG - Amazon Virginia HQ2 building
#1
Bezos last joke...

Amazon showed off its design plans for the company’s new headquarters in Arlington, Va., that includes a 350-foot tall helix-shaped building that can be climbed from the exterior.

“The natural beauty of a double helix can be seen throughout our world, from the geometry of our own DNA to the elemental form of galaxies, weather patterns, pinecones, and seashells,” the company said. “The Helix at our Arlington headquarters will offer a variety of alternative work environments for Amazon employees amidst lush gardens and flourishing trees native to the region.”

The exterior of the building, lined with trees and other greenery, will be open to the public on weekends as a hiking trail, the company added.

Matt de Ferranti, chairman of the Arlington County Board, said residents would have a public forum to debate the design before it’s approved.

Poop emoji

It also — it must be said — bears a distinct resemblance to the swirling poop emoji, though with some healthier colors mixed in.

I like it, but it's completely form over function. Just make sure those walkways are completely enclosed, for the jumpers in the crowd.

I like it as well. Tree cover for the entire structure provides shade as well as reducing water runoff.

if you note: surrounded by plain old glass boxes. So much for 'the ground-breaking future'.

It’s 2000 feet shorter than I expected.
