Much of Michigan has missed out on heavy snowfall in the recent storms that have hit both the east coast and the rest of the midwest.
Not this time. Although Rick-o in northern Michigan is getting off easy, most of the rest of Michigan is getting up to a foot of snow with plenty of blowing and drifting.
This is also creating a blast from the past: school closings.

The expected snowfall in my area was mostly to the south. My little Pugeranian was able to shuffle through three inches of snow handily this morning on her regular squirrel surveillance patrol.
And Lake Erie is almost completely frozen ... only the eastern pool has some open water. That does a great job of shutting off the lake effect snow machine.

Did he not notice the significant difference in the appearance of the ice?
From his eye level on the ice, good chance he could not see the difference. That appearance change is usually more noticeable from above.
