UP YOURS COMCAST!! NO MORE HBO WITHOUT A DIGITAL BOX!
#1
Letter from Comcast received today states that the only way to continue receiving HBO will be if the TV set is getting it's signal from a digital converter. Oh, it's only $2.95 for any extra converters needed, but only for the first 12 months.
If they are forcing this on you the sumb¡tches should give them to you without charge.
They will ship the converter to you for free if ordered by Feb. 1st, gee thanks.

My response to this, UP YOURS COMCAST!, I'll cancel everything except internet services until FIOS gets here, then that gets the boot too.
I'll Just download the shows I want to watch.

I wonder how much HBO had to do with that.

Great sig, Monster. And I told Comcast up yours (and went to DirecTV) a while ago.

And FWIW, I'm probably going to cancel HBO anyway; without DEADWOOD and ROME, there's not much I want to see there.

I stopped paying for cable and HBO a long time ago.
Even buying the HBO shows I really like on DVD costs me less than two months of all the extra tiers of crap the cable co wants me to pay for BEFORE HBO's fees kick in. Renting costs even less.

So what if I see the shows months after everyone else?

and with ReplayTV I just find someone with the HBO show I want and download it straight to it, either that or torrent.

It doesn't make since to switch ISP's now, but I don't know if I will be able to use SunRocket with FIOS, so I guess I'll end up with the triple play from Verizon FIOS, unless of course I just use the cell.

Seacrest I agree, I hardly ever watch anything on HBO anymore, but I like to have it for those shows I like.

Zoidberg, if I'm not mistaken HBO has been running trailers for a new season of ROME.

If it wasn't for Bill Maher, I probably wouldn't watch HBO at all.* Because his show is so topical, it's no good trying to watch it later (even a couple of weeks later!). But it's sooooo good.

*not dissing the other great shows on HBO like Sopranos, Rome, Deadwood et al -- just don't have time to watch them.

anyone with FiOS have problems with Tivo, and/or ReplayTV?

this switch with Comcast will make it more difficult to use the above DVRs (at least for a lot of people I imagine), I'm wondering if this is also a partial decision to get customers to use their DVRs, hmmm... think someone will mount a class action lawsuit against them?
