Sounds like the initial report of a 'shooter' was wrong - it seems that the perp was shot by police.

A US capitol police officer has died.

Suspect ran over them first, then got out of the car and lunged at officers with a knife.

Suspect was killed by police.

The officer killed was William F. "Billy" Evans, an 18-year Capitol Police veteran who served in the first responder's unit.

The man who killed him was Noah Green, a 25-year old from Indiana who was previously unknown to the department.

A few Capitol staffers were quoted as saying today was the first day they were scheduled to come back after Jan. 6. One said he ain’t coming back unless it’s mandatory.

Imagine feeling safer at home than at the nation’s capital.
