Got a free checking account you like?

I'd accept something that waives a mostly fee with direct deposit, like some have always done. Strictly transactional, so low balances would be kept. I don't have a situation that would qualify for a credit union membership.

Where do you live? It can be nice to have a local bank.

AMEX Serve is a fee free debit card, one that doesn't require a pin input when using. Acts more like a straight up cc than a debit.

Suntrust (now Truist). I've been with them for many years.

I use Ally Bank for my primary checking, but would also suggest a local credit union. Many credit unions allow all local residents to join.

I’m using BMO Harris because they gave me a signup bonus but they’re also nearby.

Credit union regs have really changed. I belong to a big credit union simply because i live in a metro atlanta county. you should really check

National Credit Union Association

That being said I have free checking with USAA. For banking services you don't have to be military affiliated.

No CUs are local but we do have some small local banks I'll look at. I think I did this exercise about a year ago and wasn't impressed with the locals for some reason.
