Help! Inexpensive wine suggestions needed!
#1
I know nothing about wine and need to buy a couple cases for a party I am throwing for 50-60 people. I am hoping the great minds here can suggest some decent, inexpensive white and red wines.

The party theme is "Drinks and Desserts" so we aren't serving dinner. There will be pastries, a chocolate fountain and fresh fruit. In addition to the wine, there will also be a semi-stocked bar (vodka, gin and mixers) and after dinner drinks (Bailey's, Kahlua, and Amaretto.)

TIA-

Find thee your nearest Trader Joe's. You won't be disappointed. Ask for their Two Buck Chuck.

I am a HUGE fan of Trader Joe's wines and will be thrilled if I can buy everything there. That said, I usually stick with one of their Pinot Grigio offerings and don't branch out too much. I am not a red wine fan so I am really lost there.

Anything in particular you think I should pick up (besides two buck Chuck, which is $3 here)? Smile

Costco is a good choice. Vina Alarba, at Cost Plus World Market, is a very decent Spanish wine that I like.

If you want your wine to stick with the theme, you could get some nice dessert wines: sweet Rieslings, Gewürztraminers, Muscatels, and the like. Unfortunately, dessert wines are usually quite a bit more expensive than regular reds or whites. Trader Joe's still might have a good deal on something suitable.
